PHOENIX — The Triple-A Fourth of July travel forecast is a busy one for traveling.
Travelers will flood the airports and the roads. The motor club organization is expecting more than 1.5 million Arizonans to travel over the holiday.
“Gas prices for Arizona are almost eighty cents lower than they were this time last year,” Arizona spokeswoman Michelle Donati said.
The Fourth of July falls on a Saturday this year, so a lot of people will start their trips earlier.
July 1-2 will be busy on the road as will July 5-6.
Arizonans will spend an average of $770 during that weekend. Lodging expenses are estimated at $240, food costs about $190, about $180 for transportation and about $160 for attractions and souvenirs.
“Fourth of July is typically the busiest summer travel holiday,” added Donati. “This year is no different.”
