PHOENIX — The city of Scottsdale said it is expecting increased congestion near downtown as all exit and entrances to the Loop 101 at Indian School Road are closed on Monday for the next 60 days.
“(The closure is) part of the expansion of the freeway between the Loop 202 and Shea Boulevard,” said Holly Walters, a spokeswoman with the city.
The closure of Indian School Road, coupled with a closure at McDowell Road, means the city expects an increase in surface traffic and therefore congestion.
Walters said the city will be actively working to keep traffic flowing smoothly as a result.
As alternatives to get to downtown Scottsdale, Walters said drivers can use the Chaparral exit off the Loop 101, then head south on Pima or Hayden roads, or exit at Thomas Road and head north via Pima, Hayden or Scottsdale roads.
