PHOENIX — The Phoenix Zoo is cashing in on the hype over the new “Jurassic World” movie.
The zoo joined a wave of zoos around the country that are putting their own twist on a viral image from the film in which actor Chris Pratt has his back to the frame, arms outstretched and is taming three velociraptors.
Now zoos have been using all kinds of animals to recreate the scene.
“We’ve see lots of other fun animals, penguins and emus and red pandas,” Joseph Becker with the Phoenix Zoo said.
On Thursday, keeper Josh Crabtree put his own spin on the trend, snapping a picture using African hedgehogs.
“We tried to mimic the original photograph as much as possible so we took our three hedgehogs, they were out there on the grass and I struck my pose and off we went,” Crabtree said.
The zoo posted the photo to its social media accounts and Becker said it got a positive reaction.
Becker said viral trends such as these come around every once in a while and they can be good for raising awareness and keeping people interested in the work zoos do.
