PHOENIX — A Phoenix man is accused of sexually assaulting and abusing a
quadriplegic woman last year.
Bond was set Friday at $7,500 for 29-year-old Josh Blackbear Valencia at his
initial court appearance. He doesn’t have a lawyer yet for his case.
Court paperwork shows Valencia was picked up Thursday at the Pinal County
Sheriff’s Office on an active warrant out of Maricopa County.
A woman told authorities that Valencia allegedly sexually assaulted her at a
Phoenix home last December.
The wheelchair-bound woman told officers that she had ended her two-year
relationship with Valencia about six weeks before the alleged assault.
The woman said she tried to fend off the attack and repeatedly told Valencia to
stop.
Her 15-year-old son heard her pleas and told his aunt, who allegedly witnessed
the assault.
