A new list ranking the 484 public universities in the nation includes both Arizona State and the University of Arizona.
The state’s other public university, Northern Arizona, fell lower in the rankings and wasn’t assigned a numerical ranking by the publication, American City Business Journals.
The study was explained to consider diverse criteria.
The goal of these rankings was to identify the public universities and colleges that offer the best educational experiences to students. The highest marks went to schools with highly selective admissions processes, strong retention and graduation rates, prestigious reputations, affordable tuition and housing costs, diverse faculties and student bodies, and economically robust communities.
ASU was ranked No. 70 while UA was 79th.
Michigan was given the top overall spot, with North Carolina (2), Virginia (3), William and Mary (4) and Cal-Berkeley (5) rounding out the top 5.
