Mark Brnovich settling in to new attorney general role

Arizona’s new attorney general says he’s getting down to business and checking out the caseload that was left by his predecessor.

Mark Brnovich said he hasn’t decided whether there are any issues in which he’ll follow the same path that Tom Horne took during his time as the state’s attorney general.

“We’re reviewing all of the litigation that the state of Arizona was involved in from top to bottom,” Brnovich said. “I learned a long time as somebody who has litigated cases that until you get there and get the file in front of you, you don’t make those decisions. We’re going to obviously do everything we can to protect Arizona’s interest, and we’re going to do in the most efficient and best manner possible.”

Brnovich said that he is going to put forth a 100 percent effort to get things done and he expects everyone in his office to do the same.

“I learned this my first day on the job as a prosecutor that you’ll always be held to the highest standard because you wield that power of government,” Brnovich said.

He declined to give his opinion on how Horne handled specific cases.
