PHOENIX — Ira Murphy Elementary School in Peoria placed itself on a brief lockdown Friday morning, authorities said.
The school, near 73rd and Peoria avenues, was closed off shortly before 9 a.m. after the office received a call that a man with a gun was seen in the area.
The lockdown lasted about a half-hour.
Police searched the school grounds and the area and didn’t find anyone matching the man’s description.
Two nearby schools went into modified lockdown.
