PHOENIX — Here’s an early holiday gift if you live in the East Valley: Tempe will not allow any new construction or utility work to begin until 2015.
The Phoenix Business Journal reports the city has placed a moratorium on all new construction projects from Nov. 27 to Jan. 3.
Areas between Hardy and McClintock drives and Curry and Broadway roads are included the moratorium areas.
The moratorium was put in place to avoid traffic complications during one of the busiest times of the year for the city. It hosts an annual art festival, holiday light show and events and a college bowl game, all in the downtown area.
