Chandler police officer Bryant Holmes was given a hero’s memorial and laid to rest, with law enforcement personnel from around the Valley paying their respects, on Nov. 3, 2014.
A public viewing took place Nov. 2 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints Stake Center in Mesa, Chandler police said. A procession and services were held at the Valley of the Sun Cemetery in Chandler on Nov. 3, with residents gathering in the streets to say their goodbyes.
The 34-year-old married of father of four was involved in a fatal motorcycle accident on Oct. 28. Authorities said Holmes died after an SUV running a red light struck his motorcycle.
The Chandler community came together to hold fundraisers this week to help the families of Holmes and another Chandler police who also lost his life last week. David Payne was stopped at an intersection while on his motorcycle on Oct. 31 when a vehicle fatally struck him from behind.
