A Tucson restaurant is giving the phrase “table-service” a whole new meaning. Just Desserts and Coffee House has installed new “smart tables.”
The tables resemble a massive tablet that customers can eat on.
“It is essentially taking a touch screen computer and putting it on a table for ordering and playing games,” Just Desserts and Coffee House Owner Linda Collins said.
Smart tables were designed in Tucson near Collins’ shop. She made the decision to order several for the restaurant recently to provide a unique atmosphere for customers.
“It seemed like a really cool way of interacting with customers so we decided to have that as the source of ordering on the tables,” she said.
According to Collins, the tables have completely changed the way families interact in her restaurant.
“You’re playing (games) on a big table, a big tablet and you’re playing against somebody or maybe against two or three other people so you’re not solitarily playing a game on your cell phone anymore.”
