PHOENIX — The grumpiest cat in the world will soon have a very sarcastic voice.
Earlier this year, it was announced Arizona’s own Grumpy Cat, aka Tardar Sauce, will star in her own Lifetime original Christmas movie, “Grumpy Cat’s Worst Christmas Ever.” The Internet sensation with the wobbly walk, big blue eyes and frowny face will play a chronically overlooked pet-store cat. The twist, according to the cable network, is the 12-year-old girl who can communicate with her.
But it’s tough to communicate without a voice, unless you’re Garfield. That issue has been solved, reports Rolling Stone, as actress Aubrey Plaza has signed on to voice the moody feline.
It’s possible Lifetime came up with the Christmas movie idea after Purina Friskies aired a commercial last holiday season starring Tardar Sauce and other famous cats.
The 2-year-old Arizona feline exploded online after an image of its naturally grumpy face was posted and quickly became a meme, or a trendy Internet photo. Tardar Sauce is so popular she landed an endorsement deal and a line of toys, among other things.
“Grumpy Cat’s Worst Christmas Ever” is scheduled to air Nov. 29.
