PHOENIX — Based on numbers from the U.S. Census Bureau, the majority of America’s 314 million residents live in only 146 counties, two of them being in Arizona.
According to Business Insider, there are over 3,000 counties across all 50 states, and both Maricopa and Pima counties house a very large portion of the population.
Based on data from last July, about 4 million people live in Maricopa County and nearly 1 million live in Pima County.
Not surprisingly, central and southern California and parts of New York are also very populous, but counties in Florida, Georgia, Texas and even Oklahoma and Missouri also have some of the highest populations.
