PHOENIX — There are things you say on social media and things you don’t. Making a blatant threat at an airline is one that clearly falls in the latter.
According to WGHP-TV, a 14-year-old girl was arrested Monday after allegedly threatening American Airlines on Twitter over the weekend.
The user – who identified herself as a 14-year-old named Sarah in her now-suspended Twitter account @QueenDemetriax_ – apparently sent a tweet to American Airlines that read:
“Hello, my name is Ibrahim and I am from Afghanistan. I am part of Al Qaeda and on June 1 I am gonna do something really big bye.”
American Airlines responded that the tweet was taken seriously and was reported to officials.
The teen took to Twitter multiple times after claiming it was both a joke and her friend had sent it, not her. She also made requests for a lawyer.
