School zone violations could cost Valley parents

PHOENIX — School is back in session for thousands of Valley children, which means a lot of parents will be driving to drop off or pick up their precious cargo.
Unfortunately, for those parents who aren’t versed on Arizona traffic laws, they will get cited.
“The biggest problem that we see on a consistent, regular basis is parents who drop their children off where they are not supposed to. When they get a ticket, they get really upset about it,” said Chandler Police Detective Joe Favazzo.
Favazzo added that parking or stopping in a school zone is punishable by law, in the form of a steep fine. He also said there is “zero tolerance” for people who pass in a school zone and for speeding.
