PHOENIX -- If Congress can't reach a deal by Friday, automatic spending cuts known as sequester will start to kick in.

A new report released by the White House has a list of federal cuts that Arizona will face this year, including:

• Nearly $30 million for teachers and schools, putting 360 jobs at risk, cutting 1,000 kids from Head Start and reducing aid to 3,600 college students.

• Cutting funding to military operations in Arizona by nearly $50 million

• Cutting funding to protect air and water quality by more than $2 million.

See the full report here.

    Hype and chains
The cuts will be to the increase in the budget and not the budget itself. On the whole it amounts to 2.4 cents out of every dollar in the increase. The administration's claims that they will have to lay off everyone from police to teachers is such a big lie that most anyone with more than half a brain should be able to see through it. The real irony is that it was the Obama's idea in the first place.

by the way these cuts are not permanent. They can always restart/bring back however you want to call it but any lost jobs could be called back weeks later. Maybe even days later. I love the cuts. I want less government and more of the people. Why cant we be trusted to live our own lives and take care of each other?

    As a matter of fact
We could mothball 5 Aircraft Carriers and cut the fleet from 11 to 6 and we would still have more than 5 than the next Country with more carriers.

    Do you
like this or not? It is hard to tell with all the finger pointing and the faux outrage... Never mind the fact that this was supposed to be a "bitter pill" that both sides agreed to in order to force Congress into working together and come up with a solution (their very own version of self spanking). Even our own Governor has found her pragmatic side on this issue, but Congress... No wonder their approval rating is in the toilet. Oh well... There will be cuts to the TSA... :)

I love how the "full report" from the White House throws Republicans under the bus. I see nothing in the "report" that scares me (other than Obama having yet another plan). I changed my household spending by 10-15% - I think our Government can handle a 3-5% cut.
