POPLARVILLE, Miss. -- The Federal Aviation Administration is investigation the death of an Arizona man in the crash of his ultralight aircraft in Mississippi.

Maj. Donnie Saucier with the Pearl River County Sheriff's Department told the Picayune Item that the crash occurred Sunday as Ron Desantis, 50, of Tucson, was flying in the Poplarville area.

Saucier said local investigators believe the accident occurred as Desantis flew too low, clipping a pine tree that caused his plane to crash to the ground. Desantis was dead on arrival at Pearl River County Hospital.

Saucier said no one else was in the plane and no injuries were reported on the ground.
