PHOENIX — A bill to prevent police in Arizona from profiling motorcyclists as outlaw bikers has hit a snag.

The Arizona Capitol Times reports that a Democratic lawmaker this week introduced changes that included allowing police officers to stop bikers wearing "hate symbols," forcing the bill to be held.

Another amendment would require police training to prevent racial profiling as well as profiling of motorcyclists. The two amendments were drafted by Sen. Steve Gallardo of Phoenix.

John Dreyfus, a lobbyist with the Arizona Confederation of Motorcycle Clubs, says Gallardo's amendments would kill the bill.

Dreyfus says the plan now is to meet with Gallardo and try to reschedule the bill for Wednesday, which is a planned gathering of bikers at the Capitol called "Day at the Dome."

"hate symbols," Then do me a favor and make a list of all symbols that are considered "hate" so I can have one for my club that is not on the list so when that a-s-s-hole cop pulls me over for nothing I can sue his department and him civilly !!!

or does "...allowing police officers to stop bikers wearing "hate symbols..." and "training to prevent...as well as profiling of motorcyclists." seem to be contradicting each other? If you stop someone because of a hate symbol, aren't you profiling based on that symbol?
