PHOENIX — A winter storm wasn’t what pitchers and catchers expected when they reported for Spring Training on Monday, but Cactus League officials said steps are being taken to prevent any damage being done to the fields.
“Our staffs across the Cactus League are ready,” said Cactus League President Mark Coronado. “We’ve tarped everything. We’re prepared for rain and inclement weather.”
Coronado said crews have been supplied with a special mixture to apply to fields that prevents them from getting muddy.
The Cactus League season is scheduled to begin Feb. 22
