PHOENIX -- According to Phoenix police, a homeowner in west Phoenix shot one of three men who he claimed broke into his house on Friday morning.

The injured intruder, 16-year-old Mario Barcenas, was transported to a Phoenix area hospital shortly after the incident. While Barcenas was initially reported to be in extremely critical condition, Sgt. Tommy Thompson of the Phoenix Department announced in a statement Friday night that he died of injuries sustained during the shooting.

Thompson noted that the investigation is still on-going, as the identity of the other suspects is still unknown.

No charges have been filed at this time.

    This incident will count...
as another shooting, period. All lumped together with other types of shootings. Cops shooting bad guys, good guys shooting bad guys, bad guys shooting bad guys, suicides and accidental. Anti-gunners can then say look how many shootings in Arizona, not taking into account many times it's the bad guy getting shot. Perfect example of how they twist things around to fit their agenda. Unless you don't want bad guys getting shot.

    Intruder shot
We used to live in the general vicinity of where this incident occurred. Our house was burglarized 4 times in 24 months which is why we moved. There are many times when I wish I would have been home the first time with my gun....maybe the other 3 burglaries wouldn't have happened once the word got out that the people who lived there were armed. So good job on taking care of some of the scum!
