TRENTON, N.J. -- New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie is confirming he phoned the former White House physician whose comments on his health had angered him.

Christie said Friday the conversation was private and he wouldn't comment on it.

But Dr. Connie Mariano of Scottsdale, Ariz., tells KTVK-TV in Phoenix that the Republican governor yelled at her.

In an earlier interview with CNN, Mariano had said she wants Christie to run for president in 2016. But she warned his weight is a ``time bomb'' and she worries about him ``dying in office'' if he doesn't get it under control.

At a news conference earlier this week, Christie called the remarks irresponsible and said Mariano should ``shut up.''

Mariano tells KTVK-TV the call from the governor was like his press conference, ``only louder.'' She says ``he wasn't very nice to me.''
