PHOENIX — It has been one of the nastiest flu seasons in years but the worst may be behind us.
Dr. Rebecca Sunenshine said there have been about 4,000 confirmed cases of the flu this season in Maricopa County but she believes many cases went unreported.
“There’s always a chance that things could back up again but it looks like we may have peaked.”
The virus is still out there and Sunenshine said if you haven’t had your flu shot yet, it still is a good idea to be vaccinated.
2012 to 2013 was the worst flu season in the past five years, excluding the H1N1 season.
