PHOENIX -- Less than six months after Spirit Airlines started daily service between Mesa Gateway and Denver is downsizing the route to seasonal.

The once-a-day service ends April 25. Service will return Nov. 7. for fall and winter travel, dictated by demand, said Spirit spokeswoman Misty Pinson.

Competition from other airlines taking this route likely played a role in Spirit's decision.

According to airport officials, Denver is the No. 1 air-travel destination for Phoenix-area travelers.
