PHOENIX -- A three-hour standoff with a SWAT team at a home in the southwest Valley has ended Thursday morning with the discovery of two bodies.
Investigators said it appears to be a murder-suicide. The man who had barricaded himself in a guest house at 65th Drive and Southern Avenue had shot at deputies who were were responding to a 5 a.m. call reporting shots fired.
According to authorities, a woman who lives in the main house heard the shots coming from her guest house and when she went to the door, was fired upon by her 41-year-old son.
Neither she nor any officers were injured.
The woman said her son and his girlfriend lived in the guest house.
Three homes in the neighborhood were on lockdown and 10-12 homes were evacuated.
