A 10-year-old boy was arrested Wednesday for planning to stab a fellow classmate, the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office said in a release.

According to MCSO, the suspect planned to stab another boy because he "snitched" on him. The plot was uncovered when the suspect asked other boys to help him.

The fifth-grader was found to have a knife and beanie -- intended to hide his identity -- when he was arrested.

The suspect, who has not been identified, was booked on three Class 3 felony charges.

hey, maybe we should have the president make an executive order and have congress now try to pass a law in order to ban all knives. and everyone who still has some knives will have to register them the government. just saying.

Perhaps the gun nuts and the NRA have
it right. Perhaps Arizona schools should abandon all efforts to keep the children on their campuses safe from weapons violence. All any weapons prohibiting law can do is allow authorities to punish violators after the fact, as in this case. Perhaps we should accept the gun nut credo and let everyone on campus, students included, from pre-school on, to carry the weapons of their choosing. Time to abandon this gun free zone nonsense and post "Free Fire Zone" signs around every kindergarten.

    I'm with Micho on this
Free Fire Zone idea. It's been that way for years in South Phoenix and Maryvale. Don't hear anyone complaining about that.

Old Joe had nothing to do with preventing this kid from following through. It was the boy's rights thinking classmates and responsible adults. Arpaio, as he usually does, honks his horn loudly after the fact, behaving as though he actually had something to do with preventing this tragedy. Only suckers buy into his non stop fictions.

Thirty seven years in South Phoenix.
I hear gunfire most days and night as well. However, it's coming from the Arizona Law Enforcement Academy and the private range next door. South Phoenix has always been a great place to live, although the Roosevelt School District is really crappy. Apart from someone breaking into the shed outside 15 years back, we've had a crime free existence here. Worst part, everyone seems to want to move down here and open space is vanishing. South Phoenix's lingering bad reputation has one upside: It keeps Hispanic hating bigots from relocating here and ruining the friendly ambience.
