PRESCOTT VALLEY, Ariz. -- Authorities say Prescott man involved in a fatal car accident in northern Arizona is being investigated for driving while impaired.

Prescott Valley police say 49-year-old Kris Raymond McClain told authorities that he had used both marijuana and methadone for medical reasons before Tuesday afternoon's three-car crash.

Police said Wednesday that they still didn't have confirmation on whether McClain had a medical marijuana card or other necessary documents.

They say McClain is being held on suspicion of second-degree murder, three counts of aggravated assault, three counts of endangerment and two DUI-related charges.

Authorities say a passenger in one of the other cars- 19-year-old Hayley Stevens of Dewey- was pronounced dead at a Prescott hospital after the crash. The 46-year-old female driver and a 16-month-old baby girl were seriously injured.
