SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. — Car enthusiasts from all over the world have flocked to the Valley for the 42nd annual Barrett-Jackson Collector Car Auction, the biggest classic car auction show in the country.

About 300,000 spectators are expected to check out the 1,400 classic cars parked at Westworld in Scottsdale. That would shatter last year’s record of 270,000.

“People come from around the world,” said Craig Jackson, CEO and chairman of Barrett-Jackson Auction Company. “Thirty percent of our gate flies in from out of state just to be spectators.”

This is the second year Barett-Jackson will be showing off the salon, which features about 50 iconic cars, each expected to be auctioned for more than $1 million.

“We have two Duesenbergs, two Isotta Fraschinis, and the one and only Batmobile,” Jackson said.

Bidding starts Tuesday and continues throughout the week.
Saturday night is the premier event, wit the most high- profile cars hitting the auction block.

“What’s great about it out here is you’ll have a rock star sitting there talking cars with a guy, and they just share the passion for the same car.”

We want to hear from you.
