New technology helps Tempe police catch suspect
TEMPE, Ariz. -- Police in Tempe said they used new technology to catch a robbery suspect.
A new report writing system allows police officers to wirelessly upload important information related to a crime.
Authorities said this allows all officers to be alerted to new information immediately if they come into contact with that person or vehicle.
Tempe police said the system helped lead to the arrest of a suspected purse snatcher.
Witnesses gave police the description and license plate number of the vehicle the suspect fled in after last Sunday's robbery.
The car was found Monday and the suspect was taken into custody.
Police said Lewis Jake, 35, has been booked into the Tempe City Jail on suspicion of one count of robbery, one count of aggravated assault and one count of tampering with evidence.
