A Guadalupe leader said his town does not want Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio's volunteer posse to patrol schools in his city.

Coucilmember Andrew Sanchez said the armed posse members are underqualified and may present a threat to the town.

"We cannot track them," he said. "We cannot hold them accountable for issues. If they decide to go out and commit crimes against our children, what are we going to do?"

Sanchez said Arpaio and his deputies have raised numerous controversial issues, including abuse of authority, racial profiling and tampering with evidence.

"We feel this is not the time or place for political posturing," he added.

Arpaio was quick to fire back against Sanchez's statments.

"He's using the politics," said Arpaio. "He's trying to throw in the racial allegations into this program and that is sickening. That is sickening for him to use kids and teachers for political reasons."

Chemist, I'd like to see the proof
you have on the felony allegations. Many of the posse members are retired from law enforcement, all have to go through a back ground check, and those that carry weapons must qualify to do so. Not sure if they go through POST, but if prior law enforcement experience, they may already be POST certified. Does anyone know of any incident that the POSSE, not MCSO officers, has been negatively involved in? If so, please share.

    Some posse members have felonies
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/01/09/joe-arpaio-posse_n_2440625.html. Arpaio thinks that the "past" from his posse is not important. What a buffoon.

    well
now if some crazy wants to go and storm a school, he will now know where to go. People just need to keep their mouth shut. Talk about grandstanding! Look at all your federal politicians, now there is a case for grandstanding, lol. Arpaio didn't say which schools he would patrol, but I guess now we know which ones won't be patrolled.

    Posse would be under-armed
The posse would be under-armed while in Guadalupe. Same for central Phoenix. 80% of the traffic stops in Phoenix involve a firearm (legal or not).

    I haven't done any research
but if there are minor criminals in the MCSO who paid their debt to society already are still considered bad bad people (seems like some don't believe they could be rehabilitate to be better citizens) but the criminals and other people who break the law by coming here or staying here illegally are just fine, people like Micho and chemist looks the other way??? What's that word I am thinking of...Oh yeah, Hypocrite.

    And a side thought
How many criminals get to carry guns? Oh wait, someone convicted of a felony is banned by federal law from ever possessing “any firearm or ammunition" unless the felon has their rights restored by the convicting state. Anyone know how easy it is to get your rights restored by AZ so you could serve as a posse member?
