After more than 60 years in business, the Greer Lodge closed it doors Monday.

The shutdown puts 40 employees out of work, according to the White Mountain Independent online.

The lodge, which also ran the 373 Grill and Red Setter Inn, opened in 1948. A fire in May 2011 destroyed the main lodge but 58 cabins were left intact. Arson was suspected.

By last October general manager Michael Weig said business was picking up.

    Greer lodge shut down?
What a shame! What a great place to have as a base station for fishing, hunting, skiing, etc... Hopefully someone will buy the lodge, and reopen soon.

    I heard this was coming.
Really a sad story! So, is the 373 Grill closed too?

Just posted for a manager needed.
We stayed in a basic cabin there, last year. Long drive, but pretty location.
