Hackers set sights on smartphones, tablets

PHOENIX — Nowadays anyone with a computer is aware of hackers and the damage they can cause by infecting computers with software viruses.

They’ve added smartphones and tablets to their malware- destination list, said Ken Colburn of Valley-based Data Doctors.

“Because so many people have so many devices that have so much really important information on there, most security experts are predicting 2013 will be the explosion of the attack on mobile devices,” Colburn said.

Companies are preparing for such attacks, he said, but the consumer has to take responsibility, too.

“(Hackers) are going to come after you in 2013. Don’t click on things you really have no idea where they came from,” he said.
