PHOENIX (AP)- Authorities in communities west of Phoenix are planning DUI saturation patrols on New Year's Eve.

The Governor's Office of Highway Safety and the Arizona Department of Public Safety say authorities will be out in force looking for anyone driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

The West Valley DUI Task Force, which will lead the patrols, is a collective consisting of officers from DPS, GOHS, the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office, and police departments in Buckeye, Avondale, Goodyear, Peoria, Glendale, El Mirage, Surprise and Tolleson.

Authorities say patrols will run through 3 a.m. on Jan. 1.
