YUMA, Ariz. -- A former teacher at Yuma High School has been sentenced to five years in prison and lifetime probation for possessing child pornography.

Michael Aaron Cox was arrested by members of the Arizona Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force in August after a monthlong Internet investigation.

A search of the 37-year-old's home found pornographic images of children on his computer. He was originally charged with 10 counts of sexual exploitation of a minor but pleaded guilty to two counts of attempted exploitation of a minor in October.

The Yuma Sun reported the former teacher and athletic trainer was formally sentenced last month.
