Man is fatally struck by freight train in NW Arizona
KINGMAN, Ariz. -- Authorities say a Peach Springs man is dead after being struck by a freight train in northwestern Arizona.
Kingman police identify the man as 30-year-old Derrick Robert Jones.
They say Jones was hit by a Santa Fe train after he stepped onto the tracks early Wednesday.
Investigators believe Jones intentionally stepped onto the tracks and into the path of the train, which was traveling at an estimated speed of 55 mph.
Police say Jones was killed instantly.
Investigators say it's not immediately known if drugs or alcohol are a factor in the incident.
