PHOENIX -- A Pima County Superior Court judge is getting a promotion.

Gov. Jan Brewer's office says she has appointed Judge Michael Owen Miller to the state Court of Appeals. He'll serve on the mid-level court's Tucson-based division.

Miller has been a Superior Court judge since 2002. He previously worked in private practice with several law firms.

His appointment to the Court of Appeals fills a vacancy created by the retirement of Judge J. William Brammer Jr.
