Rep. Raul Grijalva said the nation has reached the "point of no return" on the necessity of stricter gun control laws in the wake of the Newtown, Conn. shooting.

In an interview with MSNBC, Grijalva, who is a grandfather, said a discussion on gun control could prevent more tragedies. He also said the conversation shouldn't be about the right to bear arms, but what type of guns should be allowed and how easy it is to get them.

Republican governors love cutting mental health
budgets. "Until recently, Arizona had one of the most generous benefits packages for mental health treatment, largely as a result of the settlement of a 1989 class-action lawsuit and a state law guaranteeing assistance to the mentally ill. But last year, the program began to shrink. The state cut counseling, case management, voluntary hospitalization, brand-name medication and numerous other services for non-Medicaid patients. Ms. Brewer, a Republican, is also proposing cuts in eligibility for Medicaid, which is the largest insurer of public mental health services."

    Gun Control defined
The theory that people who are willing to ignore laws against rape, kidnapping, theft, and murder will obey a law that prohibits them from possessing a firearm. Assault Weapon Definition: An assault weapon is anything used as a weapon to assault someone with. Pencil, boiling water, frying pan, etc. Assault is a behavior, not a device.
Politically incorrect and proud of it.

    Mr. Grijalva
you are an embarrassment to the state of Arizona. At least you are in Tucson and not here in Phoenix. Regardless, you don't have a clue and are considered by some to be a traitor to our country. Where is your logic? Man uses gun to kill, blame gun? Man uses knife to kill, blame knife? Man uses pencil to misspell word, blame pencil? You have to blame the man every time or the item, if you wish, just be consistent in your logic. End Gun Free Zones

Local gun control laws, like local dry county
laws tend to be pointless, since one needs only drive to the next jurisdiction allowing the forbidden item and bring it home under wraps. We also know that have very liberal gun laws that allow anyone to carry, and carry concealed do nothing to make the public safer. What we do know is that the U.S. ranks way highest in gun violence among developed nations because of its pervasive gun culture. Not good.

Local gun control laws, like dry county laws,
tend to be pretty much ineffective. One need only drive to the next jurisdiction allowing the forbidden item and bring it home under wraps. What we do know for a fact is that liberal gun laws do nothing to enhance public safety. The U.S. continues to rank at the top of gun violence among developed countries. This is due to the pervasive gun culture here. Gun nuts have this twisted logic wherein they claim that new gun laws should not be enacted since they don't prevent gun violence. Do they think that no laws should be enacted against child molestation since they don't prevent that crime?
