SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. -- A Cave Creek man is in custody for allegedly breaking into one vehicle and slashing the tires of 21 others parked in downtown Scottsdale.

Scottsdale police say 23-year-old David Luellen has been booked into jail on suspicion of theft, burglary and criminal damage.

Police say officers were called to a bar about 2 a.m. Monday after an intoxicated person began arguing with the bartender and damaged property inside the bar as he left.

Officers searched for the suspect and found him at a parking garage in Scottsdale's entertainment district attempting to break into a parked vehicle.

The Arizona Republic says the man told police he tried to damage the car of the bartender and slashed the tires of multiple vehicles in the area to be sure.
