A 2-year-old girl has died while in the care of a babysitting service, according to KNXV-TV and Phoenix police.

Police are treating the death as suspicious. The girl was taken to the hospital early Tuesday morning from a home near 45th and Sunland avenues.

Officers and paramedics responded to the home after someone called 911. When emergency crews arrived, they took over CPR from one of the caregivers.

The child was taken to Maricopa Medical Center where she died.

Police said the child had been dropped off at the home a few months ago and her mother rarely came to visit.

The husband and wife who operate the daycare business are being questioned by investigators. No arrests have been made.
