City of Mesa awarded money for going green

MESA, Ariz. – The City of Mesa received $248,479 from Salt River Project for going green.
The city was involved in the SRP Standard Business Solutions and SRP Custom Business Solutions programs.
According to a release, Mesa conserved more than 3.1 million kilowatt-hours, which is enough electricity to power about 200 homes for a year.
The SRP programs offered rebates for new construction and energy-efficient projects.
Some projects put in place were installing LED streetlamps, occupancy lighting sensors and cool roof coatings for buildings.
