PHOENIX -- An overnight car accident has left two people hospitalized in serious condition, Phoenix Police said.

The single-car rollover late Sunday night closed 39th Avenue from Deer Valley Road south to Melinda. By early Monday afternoon the roadway was clear.

The accident occurred around midnight after the driver couldn't negotiate a turn. The driver and passenger were ejected from the car and sustained life-threatening injuries.

No other details were immediately available.
