PHOENIX -- State health regulators have issued their first approval for a medical marijuana dispensary, but a lawyer for the operator says the facility won't open right away.

Director of Health Services Will Humble says a dispensary applicant in Glendale received the approval late Thursday after passing an inspection without any major deficiencies.

The medical marijuana law doesn't permit the state to identify the location, but attorney Ryan Hurley represents the operator.

Hurley says Arizona Organix still has some work to do and doesn't plan to open its dispensary before Thanksgiving.

Once it opens, it means that medical marijuana card holders living within 25 miles of the facility will no longer be able to grow their own marijuana.

What in the world is this... that anyone living within 25 miles of this facility will no longer be able to grow their own. That is really crazy. Now we are will be picking up this bill under medical cover. All to force the pot smokers to purchase from these facility. Let them grow their own. This is sounding like another big rip off of the tax payers for just being alive de-regulate it. Get the H.ll out of our life government.

Why don't you just provide alcoholic with their alcohol to take them away from their emotional pain which most alcoholic seem to carry because life is just to rough. Sick society and you wanted government out of your life. We will be receiving law suits because the federal government forgot to warn them that smoking pot can cause cancer. You inhale deeper and longer no different then putting your mouth over a cars tail pipe while it is running. Give it out to them in liquid form only. I know smoking it is a social event.

I dont want some facility growing plants for me. How can you trust that they are pure and organic. How can you tell if they are not using carcinogen filled products? I want to grow my own. We dont need a legalized cartel selling us bunk products. All the places I've checked out in the valley their product is inferior to mine. Looks like they got it from south of the border!! Grow your own shut down these monopolies and let us do our own thing...
