PRESCOTT, Ariz. -- A 19-year-old man accused of trying to get a teenage Prescott Valley high school student to have sex with him on campus has been placed on 10 years' probation and ordered to complete a treatment program.

Paul Jenkins was arrested in March after the girl, 16, complained he had sent her sexually suggestive text messages and showed up at her school and tried to convince her to have sex with him behind a school building.

The Daily Courier reported Jenkins was charged with luring of a minor, furnishing obscene items to a minor, intentional abuse, and luring for sexual exploitation. He pleaded guilty to child abuse and obscene items charges.

Superior Court Judge Cele Hancock told Jenkins at Monday's sentencing that he would act if he violated probation.
