Country music superstar Garth Brooks was in the Valley on Friday to help Phoenix Children's Hospital celebrate the grand opening of the state-of-the-art Child Life Zone, a special play area where kids can escape the harsh realities of the hospital and their illnesses.

"This Zone is a place where you can be a kid," said Brooks. "I challenge you to wear it out. If you wear it out, we'll rebuild it."

According to PCH, The Child Life Zone is a 3,800-square-foot room designed to meet the needs of children coping with illness and hospitalization. It features a place for relaxing, playing and learning, as well as a multi-media studio where kids can produce their own shows.

The Child Life Zone was made possible by the Teammates for Kids Foundation, a non-profit organization founded in 1999 by Garth Brooks, according to a PCH release.
