A body found in an Oak Creek Canyon wash has been identified as that of a hiker who had been missing since July, the Coconino County Sheriff's Office said in a release.

The body was first reported on Nov. 4 by a hiker who said he found a decomposing body off of the trail near Pumphouse Wash.

Deputies recovered the body on Nov. 5, about three-quarters of a mile east of the Oak Creek Vista Overlook.

The body was identified as 27-year-old Shaun Rentz of White Bear Lake, Minn. through dental records. He was reported missing on July 31, 2012.
