Driver won't be charged in fatal Chandler accident
CHANDLER, Ariz. (AP)- Authorities say a driver who fatally struck a pedestrian in Chandler won't be charged in the case.
Chandler police said the victim was Linden Moffett, 41, a transient from the Gila River Indian Community.
He was pronounced dead Friday night at a Chandler hospital after a 73-year-old female driver reportedly struck Moffett as he was running across the street.
Police told the East Valley Tribune that Moffett was jaywalking and had stolen two bottles of alcohol from the nearby store.
Authorities said the woman said she didn't see the man as he ran across the road. Her name hasn't been released.
