Arizona utility workers settle in to help NY

Nov 5, 2012, 5:04 PM | Updated: 5:04 pm

Workers from the Arizona Public Service and the Salt River Project have been sent to New York for the next two weeks to help restore power for residents that have been affected by Hurricane Sandy.

APS worker Steven Gotfried said the crew plans on working through an incoming nor’easter storm, which is set to hit the region by Wednesday.

“These guys are working 16 hours on, eight hours off. This is what they do. Every day is restore power and that’s what they’re here to do,” said Gotfried.

Gotfried said that the crew is responsible for putting up a feeder that feeds to Stony Brook, a community in Long Island, New York.

Residents of the Long Island community have been without power for a week.
