TUCSON -- Firefighters in Tucson have extinguished a fire that broke out in an equipment room at the University of Arizona's McKale Center.

Fire department spokesman Capt. Barrett Baker says smoke alarms detected the blaze just before 9:30 p.m. Saturday and fire crews found smoke coming from the roof of the building housing the UA's basketball arena and athletic department offices.

Baker says ten firefighters entered the building and found heavy smoke and water pouring under the equipment room door. They found flames inside that were being held in check by a fire sprinkler and were able to put out the fire.

Baker says the cause of the blaze is under investigation and the extent of damage isn't yet known. No injuries were reported.
