MESA, Ariz. -- An overnight police car chase in Mesa led to a deadly crash that left one man dead and several others injured early Friday.

Mesa police found 18 people in a truck after the driver died upon crashing the vehicle at Country Club Drive and Baseline Road.

At about 12:30 a.m. an officer saw the pickup driving erratically near Power Road and Southern Avenue. When the officer tried to pull over the vehicle, the driver sped off.

The driver sped through city streets and onto U.S. 60 before missing a turn, which led to the crash.

Police spokesman Steve Berry said Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents are determining whether any of the passengers are in the country illegally.

The intersection was closed for several hours, reopening around 8 a.m.

    I thought the current president told ICE not to work with Arizona. I don't think any inter-office memo was needed to tell the government agency to not do their job.

    18 people that Sheriff Joe will not have to round up at a later date in one of his media circus crime supression sweeps! But don't worry Joe. While Mesa Police were chasing this one, there were 10 more vehicles coming up I-10. You have pleanty of job security (at least through the election...)

    determine if they are illegal, other than to offer them, say, bottled water and voter registration. Remember? Obama no longer has them uphold that part of the Constitution.
