listen Listen: VP Debate Grades
Mac & Gaydos along with Bruce St. James and Pamela Hughes give their grades of tonight's Vice Presidential Debate.

The grades are in from KTAR's "Talk the Vote," and it looks like Republican candidate Paul Ryan and Democratic Joe Biden were about even in the only vice presidential debate of 2012.

Overall, our hosts felt that both Biden and Ryan showed up with their "A" game, but that the debate, at times, was annoying and lacked a bit of substance. That said, it was much better than the first presidential debate.

Larry Gaydos (Mac & Gaydos): Biden A-, Ryan A-

"I think both guys were terrific! I think Joe Biden rallied his base...I thought Ryan came off terrific."

Bruce St. James (Bruce St. James Show): Biden B+, Ryan B-

"I have a feeling that if we put Vice President Biden and Congressman Ryan in a room a week from now, they may not act specifically like this. They were playing a role tonight and both of them played their role well."

Pamela Hughes (Bruce St. James Show): Ryan A-, Biden B+

"If you were an undecided voter, a swing voter who was watching this and was trying to make up your mind, I'd say you give the debate a 'D.'"

The full debate is available for
Viewing at any hour on the ABC News website. Both men did quite well within their respective styles. It was actually fun to watch.

    Biden absolutely won . .
. . . the spotlight and titles for most obnoxious, biggest bully, best verbal tap dancer and mediators pet. If, however, you were able to focus away from Bidens childish but attention stealing antics, and grasp the few moments where his FRIEND was able to go uninterrupted by Biden or mediator, you heard sound, truthful responses befitting a vice president and a true winner.

    Giving it away
It was hard to watch. Biden was condescending, disrespectful and interruptive. I thought he was supposed to be a master debater and all he did was lose by default. Ryan stated his case with more facts and decorum and wasn't rattled by Biden's bullying tactics. I really expected better.

"Joe Biden was the clear winner
in the vice presidential debate, delivering better arguments, better analysis and clearer rhetoric than Rep. Paul Ryan, according to a panel of college debate coaches who scored the contest for The Orange County Register. The coaches – Nick Russell of Cal State Long Beach, Erika Thomas of Cal State Fullerton and Lyndsey Christoffersen of Chapman University -- judged Biden the winner across the board. Ryan managed a tie in just three of 12 categories; Biden won all the rest on the coaches' scoresheets. The judges used a standard college debating score method."

    Dissapointing overall (1)
Its a shame these debates are not held to the same rules and regulations of other debates. No question that both sides were not completely accurate on their facts, but the thing that bothered me the most is that I frequently heard the moderator and Biden, especially Biden, interupt Ryan through the debate, which is something you are not supposed to do in a debate. Even the moderator tried to step in occasionally to stop Biden from interupting, but Biden kept going.

Also, I frequently heard the moderator say to Ryan "Can you give us any specifics on how you are going to do this?" A good question to ask, but I rarely heard this put to Biden. Overall, I agree with the comments that this was a show, and Bidens rudeness is overall annoying and a put-off for somebody who is supposed to be practiced in the way of statesmenship (or at least I would assume he is practiced statesman as a veteran politician).

    i think they asked
for specifics from Ryan more because that camp has been real sketchy about providing specifics, whereas one could look at the actuals of what has happened to determine where Biden has stood. What should be noted is Ryan dance around the question even when it was flat out asked. They have no plan. Like it or not the Obama plan has been a success. The economy is on the rebound, we're out of 1 war and on our way out of another...

the argument used to be, "his policies are failing", now it's shifted to, "they are not working fast enough", go on, look at past comments vs current comments. Bottom line is things ARE getting better by all indications. The plan works. Also, we didn't become a communist country (shocking) we can still own guns (shocking) there's no forced abortions (shocking) and we're not all muslims now (SHOCKING!!!). Every "point" the GOP had is a bust...
