It's that time of year: Oktoberfest at Tempe Town Lake is back.

The family-friendly event starts at 5 p.m. Friday and goes until Sunday. Admission is free.

"There's a parade and the ceremonial keg tapping at seven with the mayor," said Bobbi Jones, event coordinator.

Activities include carnival-ride attractions, a kinderfest, music, food and beer from all over the world.

According to the website, "Since 1973, the Tempe festival has grown to become the largest all volunteer-produced event in the state of Arizona. The original Oktoberfest began in 1810 in Bavaria, Germany as a royal wedding and horse race."
