PHOENIX -- A little known provision of an election law passed last year has made it harder for citizens to get initiatives placed on the ballot.

The bill pushed by Secretary of State Ken Bennett eliminated a law known as the 95-105 rule. That rule required a full count of initiative petition signatures if a review found the estimated number of valid signatures was 5 percent above or below the minimum number required.

The Arizona Capitol Times reports (http://bit.ly/RIx0Lz ) the rule was meant to account for margins of error in the mathematical formula used to determine the number of valid petition signatures

Now, a sample of 5 percent of the required signatures that shows less than 100 percent of those needed means the initiative doesn't go before voters.

    Conservative Republican Bennett
And the other conservative Republican trolls at the State Capitol, are more than happy to sabotage the citizen initiative process. Their contempt for Arizona's voters knows no bounds.

WHAT EVER HAPPENED TO WE THE PEOPLE
CHIP, CHIP, CHIPPING away at our way of government while we are not being attentive. This is how new governments are formed even though they may say it is for the better there is no reason to believe them. As law makers make themselves wealthier. There is way to much big government that has not improved things for the majority. People get the government that they deserve as the people in higher places have run amuck. That is what I have seen is my almost 59 years as an American citizen.

    Who is the government for?
Though rarely we seem to share the same viewpoint, I agree with Michoacan on this issue. Any time the government, iregardless of political party, seeks to curtail the ability of the citizens to have a say in the government, is nothing short of tyrany. We live in a Republic type government with many principles from Democracy. This government is for the people, by the people.
